1- Pyramids of Giza
The Pyramids of Giza are more than just ancient monuments. They are a testament to the engineering skills and cultural achievements of the ancient Egyptians, who built them over 4,500 years ago.
The pyramids were designed to protect the mummified bodies and treasures of the pharaohs, who were believed to become gods in the afterlife. Each pyramid has a complex system of chambers, corridors, and shafts, some of which remain unexplored to this day.
The largest and oldest of the three pyramids is the Great Pyramid of Cheops, which stands at 146 meters high and covers an area of 13 acres. It is estimated that it took 20 years and 2.3 million blocks of stone to build it.
The second pyramid belongs to Chephren, the son of Cheops. It is slightly smaller than its predecessor, but appears taller because of its higher location on the plateau. It also has a distinctive limestone cap at its top.
The third and smallest pyramid is that of Mycerinus, the grandson of Cheops. It is only 66 meters high and was unfinished when Mycerinus died. It was later completed by his successor, Shepseskaf.
