El-Miniya

El-Miniya, known as the Bride of Upper Egypt, is a city of great historical significance and vibrant culture. Located on the western bank of the Nile, approximately 245 km south of Cairo, El-Miniya serves as a vital link between the north and south of Egypt. It is renowned for its high concentration of Coptic Christians and is home to the Minya University, the Suzanne Mubarak Center for Arts, and the new Minya Museum. The city’s rich history dates back to the Predynastic Period and it was once the provincial capital of the 16th nome during ancient Egypt’s Old Kingdom.
